Chevrolet Blazer EV vs. Tesla Model Y

With brand new models like the Blazer EV SUV, Chevrolet is looking to bring some serious competition to all-electric automakers like Tesla. With extra swanky looks, excellent range, a more premium interior, and smarter features, the Blazer EV succeeds in dethroning the likes of the Tesla Model Y. In fact, the Chevrolet Blazer EV was even named the 2024 MotorTrend SUV of the Year.

Smarter Features

Once known for its cutting-edge infotainment system, Tesla has slowly been falling behind over the years. The Model Y's 15-inch center touchscreen is smaller than the 17.7-inch touchscreen offered in the Blazer EV, which also features an additional 11-inch driver information center.

The Blazer EV retains helpful physical buttons for critical functions, something the Model Y lacks. If you want to look at your speed in the Model Y, you need to look to the side, at the corner of the touch screen. If you want to raise the volume or change the climate control, you again need to look away from the road and touch buttons on a screen.

The Blazer EV also has cool innovative features like Super Cruise™, which provides real hands-free driving capability on over 400,000 miles of roads across North America, and isn't as controversially unpredictable as Tesla Autopilot.

Cushier Interior

Compared to the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV, the new Tesla Model Y can seem sparsely equipped in its cabin. Better ergonomics, premium material quality, superior fit-and-finish, and a strong sense of style have earned the Blazer EV the top spot in the 2024 Wards 10 Best Interiors & UX awards. The Model Y, on the other hand, wasn't even nominated for the accolade. The ride quality is also better in the Blazer EV, whose suspension system does a better job of smoothing out bumps and ruts than the Tesla competitor.

Better Real-World Range

If you're concerned about range, both the Blazer EV and Model Y are capable of going about 300 miles on a single charge, with the 2024 Blazer EV having a slight edge. According to the EPA, the Blazer EV RS can go 324 miles on a single charge compared to just 310 miles for the Model Y Long Range.[1]

Both of the car's dual-motor variants are capable of 279 miles on a single charge, though Edmunds.com found that in real-world tests, the dual-motor Blazer EV beat its estimate by 41 miles — while Tesla tends to fail to live up to the EPA figures.
